AIGA
The American Institute of Graphic Arts is the oldest and largest membership association for professionals engaged in design and creates a number of annual conferences about design.
Flat has had the pleasure of a long term relationship with the AIGA. In 2001 and 2003 Flat designed the websites for the bi-annual national conferences: "The Power of Design" and "Voice". Based on the success of these sites Flat was asked to redesign the AIGA's main website in 2004 and come up with a long-term online strategy for the organization that would help extend the organization relevance to screen based design professionals.
Flat and the AIGA team to came up with an approach that emphasized providing tools for the community to network with each other, publish content to the site, and volunteer
at their local chapter. The design focused on a clean interactive framework, templates with generous space to display visual materials, and an accessible, action-based navigation. We also worked closely with their third party technology vendors, Thirdwave and Core 77, to make sure the interactive design was consistent and created a style guide to make the entire site visually coherent.
